The Ups and Downs of Life

“Unhappiness come from allowing ourselves to be controlled by life’s ups and downs – from feeling defeated, from losing hope, losing courage, losing the will to advance.”
I used to be on the roller coaster of life, and than I decided to get off. I no longer wanted someone or something else dictating whether I am up or down. I got off and became accountable for my own ride. I have experienced only happiness since.

Amazing the power, once you realize you actually have a *choice* to be on the roller coaster, or off! :)
It reminds me that we choose how we feel..and how we react to situations. Thanks!!!
Losing courage. I have never thought in those terms, but you know what? It is true. Our courage is so important. This will give me so much to ponder – I’m seeking something, perhaps this will help.
Thank you Evita!
I had a dream of being in an amusement park. I watched the young one’s taking their rides but I was only a watcher now. I could walk under the park and see the framework that the rides were built upon. I noticed that I even had designed a ride once which was a dragon roller coaster ride, but it had been abandoned and was mostly submerged in water where it was bathed and cleansed by spirit.
Riding upon things that go up and down and round and round are aspects of karma waiting now to be dissolved and returned to the sea from which they initially came.
It’s hard to be detached. Guess only we can only be truly happy in Nirvana.
Hi Evita,
Wow what a nice picture! This landscape is like something I’ve never seen… Up and down is part of the life and I think it is easier to go down than up… TO loose control, loose faith, loose the will to advance is a fairly state to get into… To get up and be voluntary is much more difficult but essential to live correctly and to have a good life! One can get some resource from nature ;-) I think we should simply enjoy life and not be too ambitious about what we have to do and what we would like to do!
OMG!! Dear Evita, this is soooooooooo EMPOWERING. I just REALLY needed this today. It is so timely in my life right now. Not that I am feeling defeated at all, but I have certainly been through an intense time work wise. And this very topic is something that my husband and I talk about every single day. We are both soooo good at not letting Life’s storms tear us from our dreams, goals and those we love. So reading this just felt like a POWERFUL boost for me. It went right into me and gave me shivers. It is so strong. Like my husband says, we are only defeated if we stop. As long as we keep going we will reach our dream. It is only stopping that stops us.
You are always in my thoughts…and heart.
Loving you,
Robin
PS Thank you for your kind words re: guest posting. Will get back to you on that. Just running way behind due to work. Thank you for being YOU and being in my life…and the world.
I love the feeling of this photo. What a beautifully peaceful place. This reminds me of the Sedona Arizona area.
Thank you for the beautiful reminder! I still find myself wrapped up in the ride sometimes, but am lovingly grateful to have learned that I am accountable for my ride. I am learning to stroll the gentle rolling hills of nature/spirit, rather than grasping onto societies rollercoaster.
@ ERIC – Hi Eric, indeed it is very empowering, but also freeing. Once we realize that we are not puppets on a string but dictate how we choose to act in situations of life, life takes on a whole new meaning.
@ MARCIE – Yes indeed Marcie. Just remembering that alone brings us back to a new level of consciousness from where great things can arise.
@ MARTIE – Always my pleasure Martie. I send you my intentions to find whatever it is that you may be seeking at this time.
@ BERN – Perfectly put. When we get off, we can stand by and watch, be the observers that can than choose how to act given any situation. Some people will continue to stay on the rides, not knowing they have a choice to get off. We can help them in that, but we also have to be understanding of those who cannot see it any other way, than the fact that they must stay on.
@ PEENKFRIK – I know that it is not commonly taught in our society, but we can be fully happy at any time. It all depends on what we attach ourselves and our feelings to. How do we invest our emotions? What do we choose to fear? What can we begin to let go of?
All of these things can help us go deeper into understanding ourselves better and come to realize that happiness truly is in our own minds.
@ CHRIS – Hi Chris, the landscape is from the south coast of Spain. It was the first time I ever saw anything like that as well.
And I definitely agree, a lot of people get caught up in the doing, but life seems to work best when it is just enjoyed, and we definitely can take a few pointers from nature :)
@ ROBIN – That is so amazing to hear Robin! Serendipity! But than again don’t we always attract to ourselves exactly that which we need… Life is amazing and indeed it is only we who stop ourselves from having, being or doing anything that we desire! Blessing to you, and you are in my thoughts and intentions.
@ STACEY – Thank you Stacey. It is very empowering indeed to know that we are accountable. I felt my fears dissolve when I realized that I was in charge of what I allowed in and what I kept out.
