Forest Skies

Skywatch Friday

Did you know that forests play a major role in controlling our climate and specifically the levels of precipitation?

We all know that forests filled with trees are precious for providing us with oxygen, but did you also know that when forests get cut down, cloud formation sharply declines and in some areas completely ceases?

This causes a decline in the amount of precipitation in the area, and can leave many places with barren land and unfavorable living conditions.

Let’s protect our forests, to help our skies!

They in turn, will help us continue to live a good life on this planet.

Thank you for raising awareness of another reason why it’s important to protect forests. Nice image; that cloud formation reminds me of the head of a lizard, one of my favorite creatures.

Interesting bit of ‘factual’ data. Love the greens against the blues! Yes – we do have to save our forests!!!

Interesting reading, and together with the awesome photo your post is great!

  8. Hi Evita,

I knew that about the oxygen, but not about the clouds. I find that sad.

Thankfully many companies now replant after logging forests, however I’m guessing some types of trees may take decades before they bring back cloud formation and precipitation. So in the meantime….

    @ BARBARA – Hi Barbara,

Yes, I find most people don’t realize the greater implications when it comes to forests. I myself was in the dark until it was pointed out to me, and then I put all the puzzle pieces together and realized “of course!”

Trees do take so long to grow and mature, and there is so much we all can do each day, even starting with the type of tissues, toilet and writing paper we use. Every bit helps :)
