@ THOMAS – Thanks Thomas – this shot surprised me a bit as I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out.

@ MARCIE – Thank you. I like how sometimes nature can jolt us out of our being and energize us, while at other times, it just calms us right down.

@ DAVINA – Thank you for sharing your experience. I share in your sentiment too about feeling safe, I can tell you today nothing warms my heart more than coming back home, whether from work or from a longer vacation stay. There is that feeling of safety, comfort, etc. But what growth would there be if we physically, mentally or emotionally stayed in one place?

And hence, it is great to have a “comfort” spot, but at the same time not get attached to it and nothing else.

@ TOMAS – Your story makes me think of how much perspective can change a situation. Whether we are physically capable to move or walk, etc. or not is not what this all comes down too.

The metaphor of “spreading one’s wings” can be used in many ways. One is to spread our wings where our thinking is concerned.

You are far from hopeless Tomas – many people regardless of their physical situation spread their wings in many mental, social, emotional, or verbal ways. There is always hope, and we need never give up, no matter what. As with every situation life is giving us a chance to rise to our highest potential. Whether it is baby steps we take, it does not matter.

And thus it is okay to take comfort in a situation or place, but at the same time to realize that we are not our situations – we are constantly growing and changing beings, whose nature is spiritual and no body, no matter how sick or healthy can every change that.

@ ROMINA – Thank you so much – your perspective on it is great! That is what is so awesome when different people look at the same thing and see it just a little differently. It makes us appreciate the amazing diversity we have out there!

Wow, the photo touched my heart. I just froze. While viewing your picture, I was looking at… myself. I identified myself with the picture, and the painful smile came out, because of the double-edged situation.
Thank you for the wonderful shot and the wise words below it. I totally agree with you and thus heartily applaud to the moral of the photo. Unfortunately, that awareness hurt me more than the words can reveal: my personal “fly into a new environment” would mean only one – it would be my death, because I am recognized as the disabled for life and thus I have no chance to spread my wings and move on otherwise than through the headstone.
While your photo warmed my heart, the comprehension of the hopelessness of my personal situation froze me literally.
In any case, thank you for the help to feel what it means to be alive.

Hi Evita. Ahhhh, I love this. I’m a huge bird-lover. And I remember hiding in the trees when I was a little girl. It did feel safe and secure. Leaving “the nest” is difficult some days, but then on other days a person can spread their wings and just let go. Thanks for this… it was a nice way to start the day… and the week.
