Fun Facts Friday: Blue Jays

Did you know that blue jays are some of the most intelligent birds? Not only can they mimic the sounds of other birds, such as hawks to scare predators, but even mimic human speech. They are also intelligent observers digging up seeds after being planted by a farmer, or snapping up food, the minute it is left alone. While they are highly territorial, they know when to come together for the benefits of mating, protection and play. These are but a few of the things that they are capable of, as we study and learn more about them

Makes one think about how much we undermine nature so often, not realizing the intelligence amongst us. Every species is special. Every species is sacred. Every species deserves to live out its own life naturally.

May we grow to respect and understand each being on this planet better – whether they be human, bird, insect, mammal or reptile. May we grow in love and compassion, so that we stop interfering with nature and realize that we are part of the sacred whole, here to share this space with all other beings.
