A little book of wisdom and highly thought provoking excerpts and photographs for any day or moment....

This week I share with you one of my “picks and finds” that is extra special to my heart. The Complete Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch is a book that literally changed my life and woke me up to come to know myself, the world and life in general, in a new, enlightened and more complete way than I ever could have hoped for.

Thus it is with great excitement that I share with you here, the small addition to this book called Meditations from Conversations With God by Neale Donald Walsch.

This little book is not just for inspiration but it is a resource to awaken your thoughts and push you to open your vision to new heights. Neale Donald Walsch was just an ordinary man, leading a very typical life full of pain, suffering and disappointment until he had a spiritual breakthrough that lead him on his journey to become a spiritual teacher, writer and internationally renowned speaker. Today he travels around the world giving workshops and seminars that inspire, awaken and raise people to their highest potentials.

“Meditations from Conversations with God“, is divided into the following sections:

Introduction
Meditations on Universal Truths
Meditations on The Spiritual Path
Meditations on Feelings
Meditations on Mortality
Meditations on Self-Awareness
Meditations on Time
Meditations on Politics and War
Meditations on Money
Meditations on The Planet
Meditations on Relationships

The book has about 160 pages and is roughly 5′ by 6′.

I love diving into this book randomly and getting a message, a thought, an inspiration or a reminder that strengthens my spirit and love for life. Sometimes I also just read a few pages in order. One can also pick a section based on their feelings, moods or needs. You can read a meditative excerpt first thing in the morning and put it into action during the day, end off your day with some calming words or pull it out at any point in the day when you feel you want to be grounded, inspired or refreshed.

I felt it was a perfect addition to Evolving Scenes as the book is a small companion for any day, that has a moving, inspiring and wisdom awakening quote per page followed by an accompanying photograph on the page adjoined to it. The photograph images are thought provoking and breathtaking on their own, and are quantified even more by the words that join them. All the images are various shades of sepia and black and white. The photograph images are from Corbis, Getty Images and Osho International Foundation.

A unique photography art book that takes the detail and delicateness of nature to another level....

If you are a nature or photography enthusiast, I want to share with you a beautiful and unique compilation of photographic art work from Bert Meyers. In his newest book entitled “Inner Beauty of Nature“, Bert presents nature from the perspective of a lens and an x-ray.

Bert is a retired academic physician, who was a professor of surgery at Louisiana State University Medical Center. Now you may be thinking “what does being a doctor have to do with nature and photography?” Well one of Bert’s long time interests has been photography.

He has worked with Eugene Delcroix, a master of light, composition and soft focus and Ansel Adams, a visionary and master of landscape photography. Being both a doctor and photographer, Bert began experimenting with x-ray photography and high contrast images in the late 1970’s and has since produced outstanding photographic art work. Dr. Myers’ book is the first and only book to cover the history of x-ray photography as an art form. He has also published other works in his previous book, Festival of Fins 2000: A Public Art Display in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Bert’s book Inner Beauty of Nature, is divided into the following sections:

History of X-ray Art

Technique of Making Art Roentgenograms

The Negative versus Positive Debate and Other Image Manipulations

Black and White Images

Adding Color to X-ray Images

Making Montages

Other X-ray Artists

Index of Images and Artists

The book has about 160 pages and is roughly 10′ by 10′. The images are presented 1 per page and thus this makes a wonderful show piece for a coffee table or other display.

I have to tell you Bert’s work is like nothing that I have seen before. It takes the beauty and delicateness of nature to another level. The detail that is captured is like nothing that can be done with just a camera as through the x-ray technique, Bert goes within the object and produces a truly unique perspective.

Amongst his various works in this book, you will find numerous flowers and sea shells captured in a way that one could probably never imagine. Through the x-ray photography, Bert has captured nature’s details and inner makings at their finest. The clarity of the details is impeccable!

There are both colored and black and white images. Although I tended to favor more the black and white photography, some of the colored images were equally stunning and captivating.

Bert’s book can make a very elegant gift for that nature or photography buff that you may know. You can also check out Bert’s work for yourself on his site Bert Meyers Fine Art Photography. As well you can explore more of his work on Jamuse – Free Your Creative Talent.
